Heavy Rainfall Causing Areas of High Water with Street and Road Closures Possible

High water and flooding are occurring this evening across area counties including Boone, Carroll and Clinton County.   Please avoid flooded roads and NEVER drive through standing or moving water. Heavy rainfall is creating problems across the area, with flooding reported in several locations. Many cities and towns are experiencing high water including the city of Frankfort. With more rain in the forecast, officials are urging motorists to use caution and avoid driving through flooded areas, conditions could change quickly. Drivers are encouraged to stay alert, check for road closures and check your county’s travel advisory status before venturing out https://www.in.gov/dhs/travel-advisory-map/. And remember — It only takes 6 inches of fast-moving water to knock an adult off their feet, and just 12 inches can carry away a small car. Larger vehicles can also be swept away in deeper water. If you encounter a flooded roadway, don’t take the risk. Turn around and find another route.

Frankfort Sewer Dept will have Mikaela Dr shut down between Washington Ave and Maish Rd for high water.  Please avoid the area.
