High Wind Watch In Store for Boone County Sunday and Monday

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a High Wind Watch for portions of central, east central, north central and southeast and west central Indiana, including Boone County, from late Sunday night through 6 p.m. Monday.

West winds 25 to 35 mph with frequent gusts up to 50 mph are expected with a brief period of 50 to 60 mph winds possible early Monday morning. Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Besides Boone, other affected areas include Bartholomew, Carroll, Clinton, Decatur, Delaware, Hamilton, Hancock, Henry, Howard, Jennings, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Randolph, Rush, Shelby, Tippecanoe and Tipton.

Areas outside of the watch will have wind gusts at least 35 to 45 mph. Confidence in the highest winds is during the early morning hours Monday and across eastern Indiana.
