Homestead Resources Awarded $18,750 to Support Housing Education and Counseling Programs Across 10 Counties

Homestead Resources has been awarded $18,750 to support its
work to help more people feel at home across 10 counties. This award is made possible
through a partnership with Horizon Bank and the Federal Home Loan Bank of
Indianapolis.

The Community Multiplier Member Match Program supports affordable housing
initiatives in Indiana and Michigan through partnerships between nonprofit organizations
and Federal Home Loan Bank Indianapolis member institutions. The program provides
grants with participating financial institutions contributing a match of at least 25 percent
of the grant amount.

Homestead Resources’ award is comprised of a $15,000 grant from FHLBank of
Indianapolis and a $3,750 matching contribution from Horizon Bank.
“When people have the tools to make sound housing decisions, they’re better
positioned to build a strong financial future,” said Brian Balmer, VP District Manager at
Horizon Bank. “We’re proud to support Homestead Resources and through the
Community Multiplier Program, make our investment go further for individuals and
families in the Greater Lafayette area.”

Homestead Resources will use the funding to support its Financial Education and
Housing Counseling programs, which are available across the 10 counties Homestead
Resources serves.

“This funding helps us reach more people with important education opportunities as well
as providing individualized housing counseling,” said Marie Morse, Executive Director at
Homestead Resources. “Our programs prepare people to make informed choices and
help clear their path forward during what can be an overwhelming process whether
renting, preparing to buy, or working to keep their home.”
