The City of Frankfort is honoring Hometown Heroes at Veterans Park the week of November 6.
The Veterans’ signs will be at Veterans Park and showcased during the Veterans’ Day Program on Saturday, November 11, 2023. The information for the signs must come from a Veteran or a family member and needs to include their name, military picture, military branch, and years of service. Veterans can email all of the information to Kimberly Black at [email protected], or it can be dropped off at the Community Development Office inside Old Stoney (301 East Clinton Street, Frankfort, IN) by Monday, October 30.
Each sign can be purchased for $20.00 and will be due at the time of the order. The City of Frankfort can only accept cash or checks. Please make the checks payable to the City of Frankfort.
“We had so many signs at Veteran’s Park last year. I hope that we can add more signs every year and eventually cover the lawn at Veterans Park,” commented Community Development Director Kimberly Black. “If you have your sign from last year, we ask that they bring them to Veterans Park starting Monday, November 6th.
Veterans can pick up the signs after the Veterans Day Program and place them in their yard or landscaping. The signs that were not picked up last year were stored at Old Stoney and will be placed at Veterans Park before Veterans Day.
“I had no idea how many would participate in the signs, and the impact that was made on the lawn at Veterans Park and downtown Frankfort was fantastic. Many Veterans in our community have sacrificed so much over the years. Thank you to the businesses that helped sponsor some of the signs. Downtown shined with honor from the flag flying to the military banners around the courthouse. I look forward to seeing it come together again this year,” said Mayor Judy Sheets. “Thank you for your service; we owe our great city and nation to our Veterans.”
If businesses want to sponsor our Hometown Heroes, please get in touch with Kimberly Black, Community Development & Outreach Director, City of Frankfort.
