Hoosier Cities Ranked for Work-Life Balance

Inside INdiana Business is reporting that two communities in Indiana are ranked among SmartAsset’s list of the “Cities With the Best Work-Life Balance” for 2021. The financial planning website compared 100 of the largest cities in the country across several metrics, including walkability, housing costs as a percentage of income, and average commute time.

The other criteria used in the ranking include concentration of arts, entertainment and recreation establishments, concentration of restaurants, average number of weeks worked per year, average number of hours worked per week, percentage of workers with a commute longer than 60 minutes, unemployment rate, and labor force participation rate.

Fort Wayne is the highest-ranked Indiana city, coming in at No. 17. Indianapolis is also included on the list at No. 26.

Madison, Wisconsin tops the list for 2021, the fourth year of the ranking, followed by Virginia Beach, Virginia; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Omaha, Nebraska.
