Hoosierland TV Game of the Week: The Corn Bowl – Clinton Prairie At Clinton Central

Tonight on Hoosierland TV, the battle for Clinton County takes place as the Gophers of Clinton Prairie face off against the Bulldogs of Clinton Central.

Last year’s Corn Bowl came down to the wire, as the Gophers converted a fourth and long and scored a late touchdown to take the lead after trailing for most of the game. The Gophers won 28-26 and come in tonight riding a five-game winning streak over Central.

Players To Watch

Clinton Prairie – Kye Jacobs

After an injury early in the season last year, Jacobs has returned with a vengeance. The senior switched from quarterback to receiver and has dominated opposing defenses for the first two games. Jacobs has 15 catches for 227 yards and four touchdowns.

 

Clinton Central – Amrin Barrett

Barrett exploded for six touchdowns and over 200 yards last week against Faith Christian. Through two games, Barrett is averaging 181 yards on the ground and nearly ten yards per carry.

 

Clinton Prairie – Hunter Cooper

After missing week one, Cooper looked strong in his return to action. The senior tailback rushed for 134 yards, averaging over nine yards per carry in last week’s win over Frankfort.

 

Clinton Central – Creed Mennen

Mennen has taken a huge step for the Bulldogs this season as the signal caller and is getting it done on defense. Mennen rushed for over 100 yards last week against Faith Christian and, through two games, leads the team in solo tackles with 11.

 

Stats To Watch

300 – The Bulldogs are averaging 300 yards on the ground per game; stopping the run will be critical for the Gophers.

180.5 – Clinton Prairie’s passing attack has been strong, averaging 180.5 yards through the air. Quarterbacks Brady Allen and Gaige Kuzmicz will both see action for the Gophers.

2 – Amrin Barrett ranks second in the state for total points scored according to MaxPreps. His 44 points trail only Taylor’s Javionne Harris.

2 – The Gophers also have a stat ranked second in the state. Kye Jacobs’ 227 receiving yards trails only Fountain Central’s Ayden Batchelor by 12, according to MaxPreps.
