The Hot Dogs and Bulldogs golf teams faced off twice this week, once Wednesday afternoon and once Thursday afternoon. During the Wednesday match, the Bulldogs prevailed over the Hot Dogs by eight strokes, but the Hot Dogs came back swining on Thursday, closing the gap to only three strokes with the Bulldogs taking the victory.

Hot Dog Coach Mike Kelley expressed that the friendly rivalry between the two schools was a joy to witness, and the difference between both days was a sight to behold as five strokes were dropped by the Hot Dogs to bring the match to a close call.

“The results were similar but the weather drastically different,” Kelley wrote. “Wednesday afternoon, the weather was ideal and Central prevailed by eight strokes. Thursday, weather conditions were cool, rainy and miserable, but the deficit was cut to three strokes with the Bulldogs prevailing 181 to 184.”

Following the match, Bulldog Parker Price and Hot Dog Dylan Garrison shared medalist honors with scores of 43. The remainder of the Hot Dogs team kept the scores low with Charlie Beardsley scoring 46, Jackson Ray scoring 47, Luke Beardsley scoring 48, Garek Birge scoring 49 and Harrison Kiger scoring 50 to round out the Varsity scoring.

Xavier McIntosh achieved a 39 while Kaleb Compton and Treye Seward grasped scores of 56 to round out the scoring for Frankfort High School. According to Kelley, the coaches are currently searching for the right combination of players to fill the scoring positions as the players appear to be exercising similar skill levels that challenges the coaches with selecting the scoring positions.

Following the match, Hot Dog Senior Garek Birge was honored by his teammates and parents for his excellence in the sport over the years during a senior celebration.
