After receiving just under a $2,000 donation from the Tipsy Mermaid in Zionsville in April, the Humane Society for Boone County received just over a $3,000 donation from the restaurant accumulated during May.
The Tipsy Mermaid continued its focus on supporting the Humane Society during May through its Dine and Donate program, raising $3,183.50 for the Humane Society, bringing the total over the past two months of the program to $5,000 for the organization.
Humane Society Volunteer Manager Jackie Nowinski commented about the generosity of Tipsy Mermaid through the past two donations, thanking the restaurant and the community for the continued support for the operations of the organization.
“We are incredibly grateful to Tipsy Mermaid in Zionsville for hosting a fantastic Dine and Donate in support of the Humane Society for Boone County,” Nowinski wrote. “Thanks to their generosity and the amazing community turnout, we raised vital funds that will go directly towards the care of the animals we all love. We couldn’t do it without the help of compassionate partners like Tipsy Mermaid and wonderful supporters like you.”
Following the April Dine and Donate, Humane Society Executive Director Susan Austin announced that the organization had received a donation of $1,950 from the Tipsy Mermaid after a Dine and Donate fundraiser that spanned three days.
“Many thanks to Shari Jenkins at Tipsy Mermaid for hosting three days Dine and Donate fundraising for us,” Austin shared. “Thanks to all that dined. It’s a wonderful way to support us. (I) can’t wait to do this again very soon.”
With the addition of the May Dine and Donate funds, the Humane Society has received just over $5,000 over the two-month span, providing funding for necessary care for the residents of the shelter.
The Tipsy Mermaid has made a name for itself through the leadership of Shari Jenkins, and only one month after the Tipsy Mermaid opened in 2023, then Mayor Emily Styron declared Aug. 18, 2023 as Shari Jenkins Day in appreciation for her dedication to the Zionsville community where she opened Noah Grant’s in 2009, which was followed by Salty Cowboy and then Tipsy Mermaid.
