The Indiana Department of Transportation announces the I-65 northbound exit ramp (exit 147) to State Road 47 will close on or after Saturday, May 20 near Thorntown. This is in connection to the I-65 added travel lanes project in Boone County. The official detour follows I-65 southbound to U.S. 52 (exit 141). S.R. 47 eastbound and westbound traffic will use U.S. 52. The ramp is expected to reopen after the end of November, weather permitting.
This contract was awarded to E & B Paving, LLC for over $83.7 million. It also includes bridge replacements near U.S. 52, a bridge removal near Lafayette Avenue, culvert work and drainage construction on I-65. The entire project is expected to be completed in December of 2023.
