IDEM Issues Air Quality Action Day For Today, Sunday, June 16 For Delphi, Frankfort, Lebanon Areas

According to Carroll County Emergency Management, officials at the Indiana Department of Environmental Management have declared an Air Quality Action Day in effect until midnight tonight, Sunday, June 16 for areas including Delphi, Frankfort and Lebanon.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has declared an Air Quality Action Day for Ozone, which states that ozone levels are expected to be in the “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” range today.

According to Carroll County Emergency Management, active children and adults and people with respiratory disease, including asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor exposure for the day.

IDEM Air Quality Action Day Regions:

  • Central and East Central Indiana: Bloomington, Brookville, Columbus, Frankfort, Indianapolis, Greensburg, Kokomo, Lebanon, Martinsville, Muncie and Richmond.
  • Southeast Indiana: Brownstown, Corydon, Jeffersonville, Madison, New Albany, Salem and Versailles.
  • Southwest Indiana: Bedford, Bloomfield, Evansville, Huntingburg, Mount Vernon, Paoli, Princeton, Rockport, Tell City and Vincennes.
  • Western and West Central Indiana: Crawfordsville, Covington, Delphi, Fowler, Greencastle, Lafayette, Newport, Monticello, Spencer, Sullivan and Terre Haute.

Carroll County Emergency Management has released recommended actions for the public to utilize, such as walking, biking, carpooling or using public transportation, avoiding using the drive-through and combining errands into one trip, avoiding refueling vehicles or using gasoline-powered lawn equipment until 7 p.m., turning off the vehicle’s engine when idling for more than 30 seconds and conserving energy by turning off lights or setting the air conditioner to 75 degrees or above.
