Indiana State Police Continue Investigation Into Officer-Involved Shooting Monday Morning

The Indiana State Police are investigating a pursuit that culminated in an officer-involved shooting Monday morning in Clinton County.

A preliminary investigation by detectives from the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post reportedly indicated that just after 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 18, troopers were alerted to a vehicle driven by a suspect wanted in connection with a homicide in Ohio. Troopers reportedly located the suspect’s vehicle traveling northbound on I-65 near the 149-mile-marker and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver failed to comply, which initiated a pursuit.

The pursuit reportedly continued northbound to the 158-mile-marker where the vehicle exited onto State Road 28 and came to a stop on County Road 800 West just south of State Road 28. Officers reported that by the time the vehicle stopped, a shot was fired from the vehicle and by troopers.

The Indiana State Police SWAT team reportedly arrived on the scene and approached the vehicle using an armored vehicle, and upon entry, the officers discovered a deceased individual inside the vehicle with no other occupants found. During the course of the investigation, reports show that a firearm was recovered from inside the suspect’s vehicle.

The deceased driver was identified as Terea Brown, 42, of Cincinnati, Ohio, by the Clinton County Coroner. Brown was reportedly wanted for questioning in connection with a homicide investigation out of Springfield, Ohio, and officers stated that community members with any inquiries related to the Ohio homicide should contact the Springfield Police Department directly.

The case remains as and active and ongoing investigation by the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division. Once the investigation is completed, the findings will be submitted to the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

No officers were injured during the event.

The Indiana State Police were assisted at the scene by Indiana State Police SWAT, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, Frankfort Police Department, Lebanon Police Department, Clinton County EMS, the Clinton County Coroner’s Office and the ATF.
