Indiana State Police Maintain Enforcement Ahead of Memorial Day and Indy 500

Indiana State Police troopers in the Lafayette District maintained a strong enforcement presence over the weekend as part of continued efforts to promote traffic safety ahead of the Memorial Day holiday and the Indianapolis 500.

Troopers conducted 281 traffic stops between Friday and Sunday. Among those, several involved vehicles traveling at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour—highlighting ongoing concerns about reckless and dangerous driving behavior.

In addition to speeding violations, troopers made numerous arrests and issued citations for a variety of offenses. Enforcement activity over the weekend included:
8 Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) Arrests
6 Drug-Related Arrests
4 Felony Arrests
4 Driver’s License Violations
1 Firearms-Related Arrest
1 Warrant Arrest
12 Crash Investigations

With increased traffic expected in the coming weeks, the Indiana State Police will continue high-visibility patrols and enforcement efforts focused on reducing crashes, removing impaired drivers, and ensuring safe travel across the region.
