The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced that beginning as early as midnight this morning, Feb. 12, yellow trucks began patrols and treated roads as needed due to the forecast of ice in some parts of the West Central district with snow in other areas.
For the Frankfort area, as well as the Crawfordsville and West Lafayette subdistricts, the full callouts will begin at 4 a.m.
Crews will remain at full capacity until conditions improve. The department issued a reminder to always slow down in snowy and icy conditions regardless of whether the roads look clear due to ice that may not be visible.
“We have avoided the Winter Weather for a couple of weeks, but the weather expected to hit (today) is Indiana’s second of a few potential systems,” the department released. “Of course, we hope Spring gets here quickly, but in the meantime, we will be ready to take care of the roads in an effort to keep the traveling public safe.”
