Investigation Continues Into Two Deceased Dogs On Private Property Near Boone & Clinton County Line

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office released further information regarding the investigation that dealt with two deceased dogs that were reported missing from the Humane Society of Clinton County last week.

The department stated that on March 18, the Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Humane Society regarding two missing chocolate Labrador Retrievers that were believed to be located on a property in Boone County near the Clinton County and Boone County line.

Deputies reportedly responded and completed an incident report based on the information provided. On March 21, the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division and Animal Control Division executed a search warrant at the property, and upon completion of the warrant, evidence was reportedly collected to suggest that two dogs had been shot and killed on the private property.

The department stated that the bodies of the deceased dogs were not located by the investigators.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remain ongoing, and all parties are reportedly cooperating with investigators.

The department stated that no further updates on the case will be provided until the case is sent to the prosecutor for review.
