John Clay Shelley, 61, of Colfax, Indiana passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on March 5, 1964, to Samuel L. and Shirley M. Shelley.
On March 1, 1996, he married Anita (Lockard) Shelley in Frankfort; she survives.
He worked for the Town of Colfax for years before moving onto and eventually retiring from This Old Farm.
John enjoyed playing video games, fishing, and cooking for his large family.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Shelley of Colfax; children, Jodi (Dave) Stephens of Crawfordsville, Jenny (Kerry) Mullendore of Clarkshill, Mindy (Nick) Horlacher of Mulberry, Jonathan Shelley of Colfax, Tabby Flynn of Lafayette, Jennifer (Rodney) Tanner of Ohio, Aaron (Natasha) Reagan of Texas; 26 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and siblings, Sandy Nelson of Florida, Jody Johnson of Florida, Kim (Everette Clark of Colfax, Scott (Sherry) Shelley of Veedersburg.
John was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jacquline “Cindy” Shelley; brother, Timothy Shelley; and his daughter, Jill Shelley.
Funeral Services are planned for 12:00 noon on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow at the Plainview Cemetery in Colfax.
