Joyce Marie Luse, 85, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Indiana. She was born on April 20, 1938, in Putnam County, Indiana, a daughter of the late Herman Isaac and Suela Edna (Falin) Gowin.
Joyce spent most of her life in Boone County. She graduated from Dover High School in 1956 after attending for 12 years where she was a cheerleader, member of the marching band, and performed as part of a cornet trio. After graduation, she attended Indiana Business College. In 1957, she married Jerry Mitchell and raised 4 children on the Mitchell family farm. Joyce worked at Stewart Warner, Economy Insurance, and dedicated many years as a loan officer for Union Federal Savings & Loan in Lebanon. In addition, she modeled for the Helen Wells Agency.
Joyce married Ivan Culp, Jr. in 1980 and later divorced in 1993.
Joyce met Jay D. Luse in 1994, and on September 22, 2007, they were united in marriage in Lebanon; he survives. They enjoyed many traveling adventures as well as attending several Indy 500 and NASCAR races, and they were known as avid Jeff Gordon fans. They also enjoyed attending Purdue sporting events. Joyce loved photography, golf, and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Jay D. Luse of Lebanon; four children, John (Debbie) Mitchell of Lebanon, Julie (Dave) Bates of Speedway, Joe (Teresa) Mitchell of Fort Myers, Florida, and Janie (Troy) Whitaker of Thorntown; four stepchildren, Jo Ellen Neighbors of Lebanon, Patty (David) King of West Lafayette, David (Susan) Luse of Whitestown, and Tim (Colleen) Luse of rural Lebanon; nine grandchildren, Scott Mitchell, Matt Mitchell, Amanda Lyles, Cory (Alex) Smith, Cody Bates, Katie Whitaker, JT Whitaker, Stellen Mitchell, and Finley Mitchell; step grandchildren, Dani (Dalton) Blount, Kira Neighbors, Scott (Carrie) King, CJ King, Emily Luse, Michael (MacKenzie) Luse, Phillip Luse, Olivia (Drew) Clark, Garrett (Abby) Luse, and Audrey (Taylor) Brindle; five great grandchildren, Tucker & Sawyer Lyles, Mason Mitchell, Kyler Mitchell, and Eli Smith; step great-grandchildren, Owen King, Porter Luse, and Bobby Brindle; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her sisters, Jeannie Ruark, Joan Sanders, and Judy Demaree.
Funeral Services are planned for 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, west of Lebanon.
