Kirklin Community Honors Local Heroes at “Standing Strong” Reception

A full house gathered last night at the Kirklin Community Center for the “Standing Strong” reception, honoring local law enforcement heroes. The event recognized the bravery of the Kirklin Deputy Town Marshals and Clinton County Deputies during a life-threatening incident on November 18, 2025.

The ceremony highlighted the officers’ response to a traffic stop on State Road 29, during which a suspect fired a handgun at the deputies and marshals. Two Kirklin Town Marshals were hit, with one protected by a bullet-resistant vest. The officers returned fire, successfully neutralizing the threat and taking the suspect into custody.

At the ceremony, Jay Rosen was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in the line of duty. The award inscription read:

“With deepest gratitude. Wounded in the duty on November 18, 2025. You have demonstrated profound dedication, professionalism, and selfless service.”

Additionally, Curtis Herring, Reece Thompson, and Nick Light were honored with the Medal of Valor, which stated:

“For exceptional bravery and courageous action in the line of duty on November 18, 2025. You have demonstrated profound dedication, professionalism, and selfless service.”

“This reception is a small way to say thank you for all that you do,” said a community spokesperson. “Your bravery and commitment do not go unnoticed.”
