A Kirklin man was pronounced deceased at the scene of a 2-vehicle crash on State Road 47 Monday afternoon.
On Sept. 16 just before 2 p.m., the Boone County Sheriff’s Office was reportedly dispatched to a traffic accident involving a dump truck and a pickup truck that occurred in the 3000 block of State Road 47 East.
According to responders, upon arrival, a white 2008 Chevrolet Silverado occupied by Kyle Smith, 34, of Kirklin was located in the roadway with significant damage, and an overturned dump truck occupied by Scott Pickett, 61, of Lafayette was also located.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that Smith was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Pickett was reportedly transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Fatal Alcohol Crash Team has been reportedly dispatched to investigate the accident, and the incident is still under investigation with updates being provided as they become available.
