Kirklin Releases Notice For Residents As Sewer Lines Are Cleaned

The Town of Kirklin released a notice to residents that a contractor, US Hydrovac, related to the town’s sanitary sewer project to eliminate most a lot of inflow and infiltration will be conducting jet cleaning of the sewer lines over the next few weeks that may impact the sewer systems in residences.

The town released the notice that US Hydrovac, who has delivered and will continue delivering door hangers on residences in the area of work, will be jet cleaning, also known as hydro jetting, the sewer lines throughout the town, which will utilize high pressure water. When the contractor is working in the area, residents may hear gurgling or see bubbling water in the toilet bowl, and during cleaning of sanitary lines, in rare cases, the water may splash up and out of the toilet. Residents are instructed to keep their toilet lids closed when the contractor is working in the area, and the town released an additional recommendation to place a towel over the lid as an added precaution as well.

Questions may be directed to the phone number located on the door hangers that have been distributed, and residents may also call or text the superintendent at 765-209-2655 with questions as well.

The town stated that the cleaning is being conducted to align with a project the council has been working on for the past few years with its engineers. The first jetting that occurred around a year ago was to identify the problems in the infrastructure that allowed inflow and infiltration to seep into the sewer line, such as when rain water seeps out of the storm lines and is transferred to the sewer plant instead, increasing flow.

The current project is to identify any other possible issues that may have occurred since the previous jetting as the town’s next project is expected to begin in the near future.
