Larry D Rodkey, 59, of Rossville, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born December 22, 1964, in Lafayette to Fred and Winifred (Purcell) Rodkey. He married Stephanie Bowlin on June 26, 1999, and she survives.
Larry was a 1983 graduate of Rossville High School where he was a member of FFA, and was an active FFA alum. After high school, he went to work for the family business, Ralph R. Rodkey, Inc. He farmed the family farm since 1983 to the present. He served on the Milner Community Health board of directors. Larry enjoyed boating and water skiing and shared his passion by teaching kids to ski. He also enjoyed golfing, riding snowmobiles, and farming. Larry was an avid Purdue basketball fan and enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts. He also enjoyed mastering his cooking on the grill and working on restoring Case tractors. He was loved by all and was known for his great sense of humor and joke telling. Above all, Larry was a family man. He loved his family, especially his daughters. He loved making memories with them and looked forward to his yearly family vacation down to Dale Hollow to spend time on the houseboat.
Along with his wife of 24 years, Larry is survived by his daughters, Courtney Lynn of Kansas City, KS, and Chloe Elaine of Rossville; siblings, Mary Kathleen (Jennifer) Rodkey, Virginia “Ginny” (David) Murphy, Fred (Karyn) Rodkey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of life will be held, Friday, May 10, 2024, 3-6pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s honor to the funeral home, towards a tree fund to be planted in Larry’s memory.
