Larry J. Johnson, 74, of Frankfort, Ind., passed away June 15, 2025 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  He was born on August 15, 1950 in Kokomo to Jess and Dorothy (Smith) Johnson.  He married Darlene Davis on July 15, 1972 in Kokomo and she survives.

Larry attended Kokomo High School.  He served for 20 years in the United State Army, stationed in many different bases, including Fort Knox and Fort Hood before retiring in 1991.  Following his service, he moved to Frankfort.  He was a member of the Frankfort American Legion Post 12.  A music fan, especially Elvis, he enjoyed playing the guitar.  He also enjoyed gardening, genealogy, and building computers.

Surviving along with his wife: Darlene are his children: Melanie (Dennis) Joiner of Frankfort, Crystal (Casey) Hrabos of Burlington, and Aaron (Fiancé: LaTosha) Johnson of Lebanon, grandchildren: Taylor and Jacob Joiner, Lauren (Dylan) Carson, Hayden Spraker, Camden Hrabos, Brooklyn, Brayden, Bryson, and Eben Johnson, and Karmen McKinney, great-granddaughter: Hadley, along with his siblings: Jessie (Sue) Johnson of Kokomo, Janice (Dana) Gatty of Georgia, and Phillip Johnson (Bill Franklin) of Danville.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center, 501 East Clinton Street, Frankfort.  Friends may visit from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Diabetes Association.  Please visit archerweston.com, where you may share a message with the family.
