Larry J. Rule 1942-2024

Larry J. Rule, 81, of Michigantown, passed away October 25, 2024 at Homewood Health Campus, Lebanon, Indiana.  He was born December 11, 1942 in Frankfort to R. Glenn & Joyce (Jaynes) Rule.  He married Judy Higer on October 9, 1966 in Frankfort and together they made many happy memories and enjoyed traveling the world together.

Larry was a 1960 graduate of Clinton Central High School.  He was a four-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  Larry retired from Farm Bureau Insurance after serving clients for 23 years.

Larry’s passion was raising purebred Hampshire Swine, which his son and grandsons continue to do today.  He was an avid supporter of FFA, 4-H and coached Little League Baseball.  Larry was very community minded and tried hard to make a difference.  He served on numerous boards including Michigantown Town Board, Clinton County Pork Producers, Hoosier Hampshire Breeders, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary and Frankfort Country Club.  Larry loved playing golf with the Duffers and the Forest Travel League.  He enjoyed his coffee buddies at the Michigantown Mara Mart.  He was a member of the St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Frankfort.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, son Joe (Jannine) Rule of Michigantown, daughter Carrie (J.B.) Barnett of Frankfort, grandsons Brock Rule, Kaleb (Kasey) Rule of Michigantown, Kyle and Kody Pickard of Frankfort, and great granddaughter, Ava Rule, step grandchildren, Kelli (Sonny) McElfresh of Kokomo, Cory (Taylor) Barnett of Noblesville and step great granddaughter, Finley McElfresh.  He is also survived by his brother Jan (Jessica) Rule and a niece, Erin (LaMar) Miller all of Kansas City, MO.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, niece, Tara Sprinkle and in-laws, Martin & Reva Higer.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2024 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Whiteman Cemetery, Michigantown, Ind.  Memorial donations may be made to the Larry Rule Memorial, c/o Goodwin Funeral Home to benefit 4-H and/or FFA.  Please visit goodwinfuneralhome.com, where you may leave a condolence.
