The Lebanon Fire Department uncovered that an apartment fire that occurred on Friday was a result of an electrical fire stemming from a bathroom vent fan.
On Friday, March 29 just before 10 a.m., fire crews were dispatched to 327 Longley Dr. in Lebanon on a report of an apartment fire. As the first crews arrived on the scene, smoke was reported to be billowing out of the apartment complex.
L213 crew members began an initial search of the building, and the fire was extinguished by 10:15 a.m. according to authorities.
Deputy Chief Matt Young was assigned to lead the investigation into the origin of the cause, and the fire was eventually ruled as electrical in nature and stemmed from the bathroom vent area before spreading into an aggressive fire.
According to the Lebanon Fire Department, the Salvation Army was present at the scene to offer victim assistance, and Center Township Fire Department, Whitestown Fire Department, Boone County EMS, Lebanon Police Department, Boone County 911 Communications Center and the Boone County Salvation Army Disaster Services aided with the extinguishing of the fire.
