The Lebanon High School softball team broke in the brand new softball field on Friday night with a victory over Crawfordsville and a celebration with present and past coaches and players.
While the event had been rescheduled numerous times due to the weather during the start of the spring season, the Lebanon Tigers were able to celebrate the brand new softball field alongside a fantastic lineup of past and present players and coaches on Friday evening.
During the event, the honor of throwing the first pitch was granted to Lebanon High School Principal Mr. Frank Meyer, 2016 State Championship players Payten and Payge Redman, 2016 State Championship head coach Shane Britt, Mike Luse from Meyer Najem, Sabrina Lewis from Schmidt Associates and Lebanon Community School Corporation Superintendent Dr. Jon Milleman.
“Dr. Milleman also joined the fun by warming up with our players before the game kicked off,” the corporation released. “It was an evening filled with camaraderie and memories, setting the stage for an exciting future for Lebanon Lady Tigers Softball.”
The event was geared toward celebrating the new field while celebrating the legacy that the Lebanon High School Lady Tigers have built over the last few years by welcoming instrumental coaches and players back onto the field.
Special guests included Abigail Johnson, Class of 2023 and current coach, Sarah Tribby, Class of 2019 and current coach, Payten Redman, Class of 2019, Payge Redman, Class of 2019, Adrienne Johnson, Class of 2016, Lexy Britt Buis, Class of 2014, Valerie Higbee Trafford, Class of 2005, Reann Cladwell, Class of 2003, Stacey Gosewehr, Class of 2003, Kelli Arington Willman, Class of 2002, LeighAnn Gosewehr Williamson, Class of 2001, Robert Archambeau, current coach from 2020, Nick Archambeau, current coach from 2020, Matt James, current coach from 2020, Karim Quinones, first-year coach, Mar Arington, coach since 2002, Shane Britt, coach from 2002 through 2017 and a State Championship Coach, Dr. Jon Milleman, Lebanon Superintendent, Frank Meyer, Lebanon High School Principal, Sabrina Lewis, Schmidt Associates Architectural Designer, and Mike Luse, Meyer Najem Project Manager.
The ceremony of the new turf field was followed by a face-off between the Lady Tigers and Crawfordsville where the Lady Tigers rose to the occasion and secured victory to break in the new field with a final score of 11 to 1.
