Lebanon Utilities Hydrant Flushing Begins Tomorrow, Oct. 15 & Extends Through Nov. 8

The Lebanon Utilities Water Department announced that beginning tomorrow, Oct. 15, the annual fall flush will begin with designated areas being flushed during specific timeframes.

The flushing will begin on the north side of the water system and will continue south through the Lebanon area, spanning a total of 15 to 20 business days, expecting to conclude around Nov. 8 in the southern quadrant depending on weather conditions.

The department stated that flushing occurs annually to check and maintain water quality for residents in the area while also allowing hydrants to be checked for proper operations for fire protection.

The department stated that the water exiting the hydrants will be under high pressure and could be dangerous, and community members have been instructed to avoid areas where workers are flushing for their own safety.

Homes and businesses in the flushing areas may experience a slight drop in water pressure for a short period of time. Discoloration may also be experienced, which the department stated should not pose any health hazards and may be solved by running faucet water until clear.

For questions or concerns, especially regarding continued water pressure issues or discoloration following the flushing, contact the Lebanon Utilities Department at 765-482-5100.
