Mark A. Horlacher

Mark Alan Horlacher, 69, of Thorntown, Indiana, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family and friends who loved him dearly. He was born on October 27, 1954, in Lebanon, Indiana, a son of the late Lloyd and Emma Jean (Meenach) Horlacher.

On May 15, 2004, he was married to the love of his life who he reconnected to in his later years. B. Diane (Dunbar) Horlacher in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. They celebrated 21yrs of marriage, she survives.

Mark was a 1973 graduate of Thorntown High School where he was an avid athlete playing baseball, basketball, and track. He worked for Allison Transmission, Division of General Motors, in Speedway, Indiana for 35 years.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Mark loved the game of golf and enjoyed participating in a golf league in Indianapolis as well as any time he could be out on the course with family, especially his brothers. He grew up working on the family farm and that led to a great enjoyment for working outside at his own home in his later years. He was known for having one of the best lawns around and took great pride in his work. Mark was a diehard IU fan. He was always up to have a conversation about sports, but IU and the Colts were his favorite topic. He was always one to lend a hand or help his friends and family when in need.

He will be greatly missed by all whom knew him and those who were lucky enough to call him friend or family.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Horlacher; daughters, Nicole Dawn (Zack) Smith of Thorntown and their children, Austin, Parker, Jenna, and Ben Twitty, and Danelle Rene (Barry) Gillan of Thorntown and their children, Lilly and Paige Shubert and Chloe Gillan; stepchildren, Christopher Michael (Cynthia) Mosson of Frankfort and their children, Kayla, Evan, and Carly Mosson, Crystal Dawn (Chris) Schultz of Cicero and their children, Will and Whitney Randolph, and Amber Diane (Derek) Amos of Michigantown and their children, Kenna, Keelend, Kobi, and Kohle Amos; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Michelle Horlacher of Lebanon; brother, Ray (Norma) Horlacher of Thorntown; sister-in-law, Jo Lynn Horlacher (wife of Mike Horlacher) of Thorntown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Horlacher, granddaughter, and great grandson.

Funeral Services are planned for 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
