Matthew “Matt” Wayne Kersey, 64, passed away on August 23, 2023, at his home in Lebanon, Indiana. He was born in Lebanon on December 11, 1958, the first son of William Wayne and Shirley (Shanklin) Kersey, both deceased.
Matt is survived by his brother, Scott Kersey; his partner, Cathy McClintock; her son, Ryan McClintock; an aunt, uncle, and a big bunch of wonderful cousins.
Raised in Lebanon, he graduated from Lebanon High School in 1977. He was a pharmaceutical courier serving nursing and assisted living homes for almost 20 years. Prior to that, he was employed by Shumate Business Forms.
Matt became acquainted with Harley Davidson Motorcycles® at a somewhat early age and enjoyed riding with family and friends. Yard sales and swap meets were high on his list of things to do, along with small town festivals and county fairs. But what he treasured the most were vacations to Florida where he reconnected with family members and spent days relaxing at the beach.
Matt and Cathy met online in early 2000. Their relationship progressed from those early emails and resulted in 23 years of total devotion to each other.
He was a member of the Lebanon American Legion and the Lebanon VFW.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, Indiana, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
Memorials may be directed in his memory to the Humane Society for Boone County or to the Boone County Cancer Society.
