Melanie K. Fields, 64, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born May 22, 1960, in Lebanon, a daughter of the late Marjorie Joan (Smith) Bailey, Kenneth (Marilyn) W. Bailey, Sr.
Melanie attended Lebanon Schools until the 9th grade and then continued her education at Mooresville High School. After high school she attended Ivy Tech college.
Melanie was an accountant at D.A. Lubricant in Lebanon for more than 25 years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and reading, but most of all she enjoyed the time spent with her family. Melanie was a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include her daughters, Mendi Edwards of Lebanon and Emma Fields of Lebanon; grandchildren, Faith Martin, Alexander “Alex” Dawes, Benjamin “Ben” Dawes, and RJ Edwards; great grandchildren, Claire Combs and Charles Martin; brother, Kenneth (Peggy) Bailey, Jr. of Jamestown; sisters, Peggy (John) Blake of Brownsburg, Melissa Bailey of Plainfield and Brenda (Mike) Spall of Lebanon; stepsisters, Diane Harris and Debbie Steelsmith; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and stepmother, Melanie was preceded in death by her sister, Marcella Jackson.
Private Family Services will be held at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Interment at Old Union Cemetery in Jamestown.
