Misinformation Going Around About Cost of Fair Council Buildings for Public Use

This is the Edward Jones 4-H Community Building that is one of buidings available to rent. This is a crowd picture of the Clinton County Fair Queen contest.

There has been a lot of misinformation going around about the farmer’s market and pricing. Members of the Clinton County Fair Council have become aware of the situation and wanted to make sure the correct information was made available.

“We want to work with the community,” said Fair Council member Hillary Guffy on Tuesday’s Partyline program. “We want to use the facilities and we don’t want to see it setting empty. But, obviously, we have costs involved as well. When you contact Lucy (at the Purdue Extension Office), she has more information about hours, available dates and things like that. She can give you specifics.”

Guffy said they are currently offering a winter special.

“We’re offering a half price rental rate right now for November

through January,” said Guffy.  So, if families want to have their family events somewhere other than their house. You don’t have to clean and worry about trash and tables and chairs and things like that. The Edward Jones Community Building is a great place to utilize.”

Guffy added there also things for non-profit organizations.

“If non-profit organizations want to use the Fairgrounds and they want a cheaper rate because they are not making the money back toward their benefit, all they have to do is come to a meeting and talk to us, tell us a little but about what they’re doing. We offer some non-profit rates for that type of situation.”

Guffy added the farmer’s market wanted to use the Edward Jones Building this winter.

However, there is one thing above all Guffy and board members want to see,

“Unfortunately in today’s economy, we can’t do anything for free,” said Guffy. “Nothing is free anymore. But, we do want to work with people and make the facility the best it can be.”

Other things coming up this winter are harness racing, a fall demolition derby and a winter storage event for all types of vehicles.
