Moon Night Turns Into Aurora Borealis Night at Camp Cullom’s Prairie Grass Observatory

Prairie Grass Observatory opens up its telescopes, outdoor space movies, binoculars, constellation talks and meteorite display 10 to 15 nights per year March through October.

Last night was one of those nights.  Some open houses have themes like “Saturn Night”, “Jupiter Night” or “Moon Night” and so on.

Saturday started as “Moon Night” with beautiful clear skies.  Before the night was over, attendees were treated to:

  • Craters and Mountains up close on the Moon
  • Space Station Fly-Over
  • Globular Cluster M13
  • 3 Galaxies near Leo in eyepiece at one time
  • Aurora Borealis Display
  • Meteorite Display you can hold in your hand
  • NASA video on Moon Landings in the Gallelio Gallery under the stars
