On-Stage Foundation, the Red Barn Summer Theatre, season sponsor Bailey Trucking and show sponsor Zachary Confections proudly announce the musical BRIGHT STAR by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. BRIGHT STAR opens at Frankfort’s Red Barn on Thursday, July 7 and will play through July 17.
Directed by Red Barn Artistic Director, Michael Taylor, and inspired by a true story, BRIGHT STAR tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920’s and 1940’s. With beautiful melodies and powerfully moving characters, the story unfolds as a beautifully layered tapestry sewn with intertwining threads of deep emotion. The story, book and music were written by Steve Martin in collaboration with Edie Brickell who along with story and music added the lyrics which makes Bright Star as refreshingly genuine as it is daringly hopefully.
BRIGHT STAR “stars” Texas-born New Yorker Chloe Byars, as “Alice Murphy,” Matthew Riordan as ”Jimmy Ray Dobbs,” Dane Drennan, as “Billy Cane” and Chicago-based actor Katherine Abel as “Margo Crawford.”
Featured performers include Luke McLaughlin, Dena Seifert, Aaron Moon, Kiara Wood and veteran performer David Kenworthy.
BRIGHT STAR will play evenings at 7:30 and matinees on Sunday at 2:00. There will also be a Saturday matinee at 2:00 on July 9. Tickets may be purchased on-line at www.redbarntheatre.net, or by phone by calling the Box Office at 765-659-1657 after 5:00 weekdays.
