Nancy Avery Stephenson, 76, of Thorntown, Indiana, passed away Friday, July 10, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born October 12, 1949, in Oceanside, New York, a daughter of the late Wallace C. Lyon, II and Harriett (Avery) Lyon.
On April 2, 1969, she was united in marriage to Thomas M. Stephenson, Sr. in Plainwell, Michigan. He preceded her in death on November 26, 1996.
Nancy attended high school in New York. She attained an associates degree from Butler University in Indianapolis. She worked as a paralegal for Jerry Burton.
Nancy owned and operated Glass by Nan in Thorntown and was a member of the American Indian Council.
Survivors include her fiancé, David Decker of Anderson; four sons, Edward “Ted” Stephenson of Thorntown, Thomas Stephenson, Jr. of Lebanon, Adam Stephenson of Texas, and Ken Hancock Stephenson of Florida; two grandsons, Breyton Stephenson of Lebanon and Corey Stephenson of Texas; brother, Chuck Lyon of Michigan; and sister Betsy Lyon–McManns of South Carolina.
No public services will be held. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with her cremation arrangements.
