Nancy Caroline (Kindley) Walker

Nancy Caroline (Kindley) Walker, 88, died September 9, 2024 at St Paul’s Senior Living Community in South Bend Indiana. She was born January 13, 1936 in Frankfort, Indiana to Leander Charles and Jesse Lodean Kindley. She married Robert Walker August 28, 1954 and he passed August 10, 1998.

Nancy graduated from Frankfort high school in 1953. She later graduated Cum Laude from Butler University, receiving her masters in Elementary Education, learning disabilities, and administration for elementary K-12. She finished this higher education at the age of 55. She taught K-8 grade and also taught classes in the evenings at Butler and Indiana University Kokomo. She was principal at Saint Therese school in Indianapolis, then principal at Brownsburg schools and ended her career as principal of Kyger elementary school in Frankfort.

Nancy had a strong Faith in God and attended catholic mass when she was able to do so. She was very passionate about life and a big cheerleader for her kids and grandkids and great grandkids. She loved helping others. She was very creative with her flower arrangements and decorating, (always in Mauve and Blue). She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge with friends and family. She even competed in several bridge tournaments. She was also passionate about shopping. Her motto was “shop ‘till you drop”.

Surviving family includes:

Daughter: Dr. Vickie (Dr. Bryan) Wipperman of South Bend, Indiana

Sons: Steve (Kay) Walker, of Fort Mill, South Carolina and Atty. Brian (Julie) Walker of Lafayette, Indiana

Seven Grandchildren: Scott (Casey) Wipperman, Kim (Sergio) Cerda, Samuel (Betsy) Walker, Grace (Scott) Sexton, Olivia Walker, Jeanne (Jay) Rains, Steve Walker

Five step Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, her brothers Bud and Dick Kindley, and sisters Mary Lou Landis, Wanda Nebelsieck, Betty Joe Scallan and Bonnie Thomas.

Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main Street, Frankfort, Indiana. The Funeral service will be 10:30 AM at Goodwin Funeral Home on September 17, 2024. Entombment will immediately follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum.
