The 2024 National Night Out will be held Tuesday, August 6, from 6-8 p.m. at Prairie Creek Park in downtown Frankfort. This event is sponsored by the Frankfort Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies.
WILO’s Cindy Loveless will be broadcasting live from Prairie Creek from 6-8 p.m. that evening.
National Night Out was created in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch. It has grown from 2.5 million neighbors in 400 communities across 23 states that year to 38.1 million people in 16,540 communities in all 50 states, U.S. Territories, Canada and military bases worldwide.
National Nigh Out is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
United Way for Clinton County is one of the organizations that is helping out. In fact, they are putting together 600 backpacks with school supplies. School supplies can be dropped off at Center Township, 250 Alhambra Ave. Backpacks will be put together on Tuesday, August 6, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Prairie Creek Event Center.
