National Weather Service Extends Wind Advisory For Today Into Tomorrow In Boone, Carroll, Clinton Counties

The National Weather Service has issued an urgent weather message for counties including Carroll, Boone and Clinton for severe winds this afternoon into the overnight hours.

The service stated that a wind advisory will be in effect from 12 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 27 through 1 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 28 with northwest winds expected to reach 20 to 30-miles-per-hour with wind gusts up to 40-miles-per-hour expected to occur in portions of central, north central and west central Indiana.

The affected counties include Carroll, Clinton, Boone, Warren, Tippecanoe, Howard, Fountain, Montgomery, Tipton, Vermillion and Park. Affected cities may include Delphi, Frankfort, Lebanon, Zionsville, Flora, Kokomo, Williamsport, West Lafayette, Covington, Rockville, Clinton, Rosedale, Fairview Park, Lafayette, West Lebanon, Tipton, Attica, Montezuma, Veedersburg and Crawfordsville.

The service stated that “gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may result.”

The service issued precautionary and preparedness actions, including securing outdoor objects and limiting driving.

“Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles,” the service released. “Use extra caution.”

The winds have been attributed to the remnants of Hurricane Helene.
