NWS Issues High Wind Warning for Boone County

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a High Wind Warning from 11 p.m. Thursday to 9 a.m. Friday for portions of central and east central Indiana, including Boone County.

West winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are possible. Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Besides Clinton, other affected areas are Clinton, Delaware, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Henry, Howard, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Morgan, Randolph, Rush, Shelby and Tipton.

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.
