A team at Prevention Insights at Indiana University is setting up an Opioid Rapid Response System in Boone and Hancock Counties and they are recruiting participants. The program includes recruiting and training citizen responders for opioid overdose events..
The $213,000 grant will consist of one month of ORRS Naloxone training (online) and one month of participant recruitment. Naloxone training is online and recruitment is via Facebook, Instagram, community partner websites and flyers. The training began February 12 and will run through March 15, or until they reach a target of 220 participants.
A total of 220 participants living in either Boone or Hancock Counties, who are 18 years of age or older, must have access to Internet, must not be a trained professional responders e.g. be a licensed clinician (doctor, nurse), work for fire department, EMS or sheriff’s department
