The Humane Society of Clinton County announced that the treat tree for Sunday walkers was dedicated this past weekend to a long-term resident who passed away recently after finding her forever home.

The Humane Society released that while the Sunday walkers always have a treat tree provided during the walks, the Sunday, June 23 treat tree was dedicated in memory of a special previous resident, Miranda, who recently passed away after finding her forever home and living in the best conditions she could have asked for once leaving the shelter.

During her time with the Humane Society, Miranda became a volunteer favorite for her personality and friendship after waiting over 700 days to find her forever home with Linda Sechrist in the community.

Upon Miranda’s passing, Sechrist elected to provide the treats for the treat tree this past weekend, and the Humane Society released a statement of gratitude for the gesture and the love and care that was given to Miranda once she left the shelter.

”Thank you so much for donating to our waiting pups–they loved it,” the shelter released. “Thank you for loving our sweet Miranda all those years.”

Sechrist expressed her gratitude for the happiness and comfort that Miranda was able to give her, and she sought to keep Miranda’s memory alive in Clinton County as the Humane Society staff and the community became her favorite people.

“I loved her very much,” Sechrist said. “Thank you for giving her to me, and all the happiness we shared together. She will always be in my heart. I miss her so much. I loved her very much. She was definitely a beautiful girl, inside and out.”

Interested foster or adoption families may contact the Humane Society of Clinton County to get involved by emailing [email protected] or calling the shelter at 765-670-7924 and selecting prompt 2.

Interested parties may foster a dog on the road to adoption or just act as a foster family until a forever home can be found. During the fostering period, the Humane Society will provide all medical needs that the foster puppy may have at that time.
