Peru Man Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash

At approximately 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, officers from the Indiana State Police and the Cass County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Road 25 at State Road 16 where a Peru man was injured.

The preliminary crash investigation by Senior Trooper Chris Miller revealed that Paul Dubois, 86, Peru, was driving a 2002 Buick LeSabre westbound on State Road 16, approaching a stop sign at the intersection of State Road 25. Dubois allegedly failed to stop and pulled into the path of a northbound 2010 Dodge Nitro. The Dodge, driven by Allyson Lawson, 37, Rochester, hit the Buick in the driver’s side door.

Dubois was flown from the crash scene, via medical helicopter, to a Fort Wayne hospital with life-threatening injuries. Lawson was treated at the scene for cuts and lacerations.

This crash is still under investigation. Neither the use of alcohol nor narcotics is suspected as having contributed to the crash.
