Philip Robert Stavroff, born September 15, 1956, Kokomo IN; died May 27, 2025, in his home, Columbus IN, loving son of Kathleen Janice (Anderson) and Robert Stavroff, who proceed him.
Attended Maple Crest School K-8, graduated from Haworth High School (1975), and attended Indiana University, Kokomo, Indiana. He was a member of the Maple Crest Flag Team, raising and lowering the American flag each day.
Phil joined the Boy Scouts of America program, earning Eagle Scout, the highest recognition for a Boy Scout.
For his first job, from an early age, Phil delivered papers for the Indianapolis Star, starting with a large route, later doubling in size. His work life continued at China Clipper during high school, followed by Continental Steel Corporation, Key Bank, St. Vincent Carmel and Woodland Terrace. He enjoyed working at places that made a difference in the lives of others.
Phil successfully lobbied and gathered signatures for appointments to the Kokomo School Board to be made by popular vote in the General Election rather than direct appointments.
Phil attended Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church in Columbus. He loved bicycle riding, cats, dogs, birds, and comedy including “I Love Lucy.†He loved reading and learning from newspapers, books, radio, community and news programs. Phil was passionate about history…he possessed an insatiable appetite for knowledge. He enjoyed many sports, including the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Purdue University, Kokomo and Columbus high school sports, and Indianapolis Fever, where he had been a season ticketholder since 2010.
As an Eagle Scout, Phil sought to keep his word and commitments to others – to do the right thing. He was a conscientious hard worker, a kind gentle soul. He was most impactful in relationships and those only known to him, recipient and God. He spoke up for what was right and was a voice for the voiceless.
Phil didn’t bring attention to himself. He lived a simple life. His impact and service to others was his life’s calling.
Sister Karen Stonehill (Bill), brother Brian Stavroff (Karen), nieces Liz Stonehill (Alex), Hannah Stonehill (Joe), Megan Hawes (David), Kristen Grogg (Zack), nephew Jake Stavroff, additional family members and friends remain to celebrate his life, continuing his memory.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 7, 2025, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 South Main Street, Frankfort, IN. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Father Paul Cochran officiating.
