Phyllis Joan (Wilcox) White passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Indiana.
Phyllis was born on July 9, 1933 in rural White County, Illinois. Her family moved to Boone County when she was six years old, where she attended Lindberg, Union and Advance Elementary Schools. The family moved to Lebanon where she attended Lebanon High School and graduated in 1951.
She married Raymond Earl White, who was in the Army at the time, on September 6, 1952. They moved to Aransas Pass, Texas in 1953 and back to Boone County in 1956.
She was employed at several jobs while being a full-time mother of five. She worked in the cafeteria at Granville Wells School, a nursing home, Mallory’s in Frankfort and Shumate Business Forms in Lebanon, retiring after 22 years of employment.
Phyllis loved quilting, knitting, crocheting, gardening, canning, sewing, as well as working crossword puzzles. She enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her garden, butterflies, and birdwatching, especially hummingbirds and wrens. Phyllis was an avid Bible reader and prayer warrior. She was a member of the Lebanon Bible Baptist Church for several years.
Survivors include four children, Sharon (Larry) Cantor of Port Mansfield, Texas, Kathy (Danny) Eno of Lebanon, Ray (Channa) White of Lebanon, and Ralph (Lesa) White of Midland, Texas; son-in-law, Greg Huckleberry of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Allen of Lebanon.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Velma Wilcox; husband, Raymond in 2005; a daughter, Teresa Lee Huckleberry in 2020; three brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.
Family will gather with friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
Interment will follow at Geetingsville Cemetery in Clinton County.
