A total of 19 non-profits and organizations gathered Tuesday for the Points of Light Volunteer Fair at the 51 West Event Center just off the downtown square in Frankfort.
Besides telling interested visitors what there organization are all about, it also gave an opportunity for many of Clinton County non-profits to gather in one room to network, exchange ideas, interact, collaborate and plan ways to combine ideas and activities.
“I think this is a really neat idea having all these non-profit organizations come together under one roof and engage with different people and each other,” said Bethany Perlee of the Clinton County Purdue Extension.
Perlee said they recruit anyone who is willing to volunteer and there are many options to do so.
Another organization who relies heavily on volunteers is COACH Kids.
“We look for people who are kind,” said COACH Kids Executive Director Susan Grasham. “It is a basic kindness who are willing to donate their time and pay attention. It’s about listening and paying attention to someone else. For us, it’s working with kids. It’s taking that time to listen, look them in the eye and let them know they are valued.”
Non-profits and organizations who attended included Optimist Club, COACH Kids, State Health Insurance Program (SHIP), Frankfort Community Public Library, United Way for Clinton County, Clinton County Purdue Extension, Learning Network of Clinton County, Salvation Army Clinton County, Clinton County Prosecutors Victim Assistance Program, Clinton County Democrat Party, Healthy Communities of Clinton County, Wabash Valley Astronomical Society, Camp Cullom, Bauer Family Resources, Humane Society of Clinton County, American Red Cross, Open Door Clinic, Lions Club and Boy Scouts of America.
The two title sponsors for event were Center Township of Clinton County and Encompass Credit Union. The three pillar sponsors were Susan Kaspar State Farm Insurance, Wilson Farm Market and Home National Bank.
