The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for portions of central, north central and west central Indiana from 7 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Tuesday. Boone County is not included in the advisory as of noon Sunday.
Affected areas include Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Howard, Montgomery, Parke, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Vermillion, Vigo and Warren and includes the cities of Frankfort, Attica, Covington, Crawfordsville, Delphi, Flora, Kokomo, Lafayette, Newport, Rockville, Terre Haute, Tipton, Veedersburg, West Lafayette, West Lebanon and Williamsport.
The Winter Weather Advisory has snow expected with total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Snow will develop later Sunday and into tonight, and will cause some slick roads, especially after midnight.
Another round of winter precipitation is possible Wednesday night into Thursday, which could lead to additional travel difficulties, Below zero wind chills will continue at times into next weekend. Ice jams may be possible on a few area rivers.
