Prairie Creek Park Mural Proposals Due Tomorrow, July 10

The City of Frankfort proposals for the mural slated to be implemented at Prairie Creek Park located at 260 E. Washington St. in Frankfort are due tomorrow, July 10 at 4 p.m. at the Community Development and Engagement Office at Old Stoney at 301 E. Clinton St. in Frankfort.

The project would require the painting of one large mural on the concrete wall under the Prairie Creek Park Splash Pad.

In relation to the concerts and arts commonly found at Prairie Creek Park, the mural must represent an aspect of art, music or reading, and Gem City themes are also encouraged.

The project will remain open to all qualified artists who live or work in Indiana, and the city encourages applications from new and established artists who wish to apply as an individual or as a group to complete the project.

The city is limiting the submissions to one per individual or group, and the proposed timeline for the project is to commence in July 2024 and be completed by November 2024.

Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee consisting of three to five people that will include the City’s Community Development Director, the City’s Park Superintendent, representatives from the local art community and Psi Iota Xi representatives. Once the artwork is reviewed, the committee will schedule an interview with the potential finalists to discuss the proposed artwork and the guidelines for the mural.
