Purdue Formula Racing Team Uses Frankfort High School as Testing Track

If you drove by the large Frankfort High School parking area Saturday afternoon you would have seen an Autocross style race course set up to test the Purdue Formula SAE race car.  The car being tested with design improvements finished 8th out of 120 universities last May in competition at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn Michigan in the  Jackson/Ann Arbor/Detroit area.

11 students and Frankfort School Board Member Sandy Miller were on site as the team tested new developments in design and components for next years competition.

The students are primarily in the mechanical engineering field but some team members are pursuing degrees in electrical engineering and aerospace fields.  Joseph Augustine, President of the Purdue Formula SAE Club (Society of Automotive Engineers) said the fall testing for next years race are only on a few weekends, but as the team gets closer to the May 10-17 competition, testing and trials will be held almost every weekend.
