Quick Action By The Delphi Street Department Opens Up Wabash & Erie Canal Park Trail

The Delphi Police Department announced that a tree blocking the Wabash and Erie Canal park trail near Trailhead Park for several weeks was removed as the Delphi Street Department went “above and beyond” with their response, allowing those utilizing the trail to continue freely.

The department stated that Parks and Trails Liaison Officer Justin Wilson had been in contact with Wabash and Erie Canal Park Executive Director Mike Tetrault in reference to the blockage, but the men were unable to locate someone to clear the tree.

The department reportedly mentioned the blockage to Delphi Street Superintendent Aaron Lyons, which led to the department clearing the trail within the same day, opening the trail to the public once again.

“In this case, the City employees went above and beyond their duties as these trails are typically maintained by our generous volunteers,” Tetrault released. “However, this particular blockage was large enough to be hurdle for our volunteers to safely clear, and Delphi PD and the Streets Dept. stepped up to get the job done.”
