Randy L. Stanger

Randy L. Stanger, 63, passed away Monday, May 20, 2024, at IU Methodist Hospital. He was born on July 18, 1960, in La Mesa, California, to the late Jay C. Stanger and Vivian (Gundersen) Stanger.

Randy was a graduate of Santana High School and attended Grossmont College in California.

He was married to Linda Gayle (Vannatta) Thorpe-Stanger on July 15, 2009, in Lebanon, Indiana; she survives.

Randy worked for Buy Rite Carpet for many years as a floor covering technician.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lebanon, and Star Motorcycle Group. Randy was also a Boy Scout Leader. He found freedom and joy on the open road riding motorcycles, and he enjoyed shooting sports. A devoted husband and father that enjoyed being with his family as well as caring for the children.

Survivors include his wife, Linda G. Thorpe-Stanger of Jamestown; thirty-one children, William Michael Thorpe of Indianapolis, Casey (Shannon Carter) Thorpe of Indianapolis, Larry Thorpe, Jr. of Lebanon, Eddie Thorpe of Jamestown, John Thorpe of Gowen, Michigan, Christopher Thorpe of California, Christopher McMillian of Lebanon, Chris Manyak of Jamestown, William Levi Thorpe of Indianapolis, Topeka Thorpe of Jamestown, Brandy (Brad) Schroeder of Indianapolis, Felicia (Verdale Brown) Thorpe of Indianapolis, Angie Thorpe of Jamestown, Mary Thorpe of Jamestown, Ashley Nicole Thorpe of Jamestown, Sarah Jo Thorpe of Jamestown, Debbie (Curtis Roberts) Thorpe of Lebanon, Amanda Thorpe of Terre Haute, Chelsey Thorpe of Jamestown, Hannah Thorpe of Indianapolis, Brianne Thorpe of Jamestown, Breona Denay Thorpe of South Bend, Sarah Renee Thorpe of Jamestown, Ashley Elizabeth Thorpe of Crawfordsville, Laura Shimie Thorpe of Crawfordsville, Joseph Arman Thorpe of Lebanon, Ben Hecht of Jamestown, Bisrat Stanger of Iowa, Blessing Stanger of Rockville, Emily Thorpe–Stanger of Lebanon, and Jaquan Thorpe-Stanger of Jamestown; stepmother, Donna Stanger; brothers, Sid Stanger, Jess (Emily) Goodrich, Doug (Donna) Stanger, and Arthur (Renette) Goodrich; sisters, Tara Lynn (Matt) Dene, Jaci (Curtis) Seiler, Kathlyn Porter, Marsha (Eric) McAllister, Susan (Garry) Winget, and Jenny (Ron) Brannon.

In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by ten children, Donavon Thorpe Stanger, Christina M. Thorpe, T. J. Young, Timothy Blades, Jacqueline N. Thorpe, Jasmine N. Thorpe, Robert D. Becker, Aaron Thorpe, Edith Soto, Randy Thorpe, and sister, Cathy Lou Park.

Funeral Services are planned for 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at The Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints, 2291 Witt Road, in Lebanon. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow services at the Old Union Cemetery, rural Jamestown.
