Raymon Doyce Hicks, 89, passed away Tuesday morning, October 17, 2023, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon, Indiana. He was born in Double Springs, Alabama on May 6, 1934, a son of the late James Clarion and Lillian Irene (Dyer) Hicks.
On September 2, 1953, he was married to Joyce Ann (Johnson) Hicks in Muncie, Indiana. She passed away on March 1, 2003.
Raised in Alabama, he graduated salutatorian of Double Springs High School in 1952. Raymon worked as a general contractor in construction for many years in Orange County and L.A. County in California.
He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. In his free time, Raymon enjoyed listening to music.
Survivors include sons, Jerry (Ann) Hicks of Camarillo, California and Glenn (Mary) Hicks of Thorntown; three grandchildren, Tanya Strawmyer, Elizabeth (Dwight) Frost, and Benjamin Thomas; four great grandchildren, Asher Strawmyer, Malachi Strawmyer, Sydnie Frost, and Willow Hubbs; brothers, Darl (Carol) Hicks, JC Hicks, and Jimmy (Sandy) Hicks; sister, Cathy (Robert) Hudson; sister-in-law, Judy Hicks; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Raymon was preceded in death by two brothers, Wendell Hicks and Waymon Hicks.
Funeral Services are planned for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will take place at Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry, Indiana.
Memorials may be directed in his memory to Antioch Christian Church.
