Richard A. Shover

Richard Arnold Shover, 87, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at his daughter Brenda’s home in Lebanon, Indiana where he resided for the past 13 months as his health was deteriorating. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 12, 1938, in Indianapolis. A son of the late Richard Raymond and Opal Louise (Willis) Shover Barnett.

On January 12th, 1957, he was married to Donna Maye (Myers) Shover in Lebanon. They divorced July 8, 2025. She still survives.

Having lived in various communities, Richard mainly grew up in the Jamestown, Indiana area. Having to leave school in the seventh grade to go to work for a farm in Jamestown so that he could help support his mother and six siblings, he taught himself how to become a master of carpentry, plumbing, and electrical. When he and Donna built their home in 1979 in Lebanon, Indiana he did most of the building himself. Known as Dick to his family and friends, he was a kind and generous man who was always willing to help lend a hand with any building needs. He helped in the rebuilding of the parsonage for Lebanon First Church of the Nazarene where he was a member and was baptized there in 2001. He enjoyed being a door greeter there on many Sunday mornings.

Dick had worked for AO Reynolds gas station and Witham Hospital, but the majority of his career was retiring in 2012 after 24 years of service from G & G Oils I-69 Auto Truck Stop, Inc. division as the maintenance manager for many Union 76-Indy 500 truck stops around the state of Indiana.

He was a member of Boone Lodge #9 F&AM, and he served 20 years on the Browns Wonder Cemetery Board. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, fishing, woodworking, gardening, World War II history, westerns especially with John Wayne, and NASCAR.

Dick was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him!
