Richard “Rich” Earl Woods, 56, passed away at IU Health Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis on December 17, 2025, after a 7-month battle with cancer.
Rich was a loving husband, father, brother, son, and friend.
He is survived by wife, Julie Woods (Boyer); daughters, Megan and Lydia; stepson, Lucas LaFollette; mother, Janet McKee (Nelson); brother, Patrick Woods; and sisters, SueEllen Vest (Woods) and Wendy Spencer.
Rich was an elevator man by trade, taking after his stepfather. He loved what he did and regularly told stories of the machines he worked on. In his free time, he enjoyed collecting guns and knives, riding his motorcycle, playing trivia games, listening to music, and watching his favorite comedies. He loved nature and history and enjoyed taking his family on road trips. Rich was a true and honest man who cared deeply for his loved ones and will be sorely missed by all who loved him.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at the Lebanon Church of Christ, 1204 Indianapolis Avenue, in Lebanon, Indiana, immediately following church services. The family will be planning a celebration of life gathering for summer 2026 and will reach out with details closer to the time of the event. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with his cremation.
